Ray D. Goodwin Biography:

Born in Flagstaff AZ 1/06/75. Lived in FL,CA,AZ,WA,GA,and CO. My Dad's side of the family has a long history of fiddle players and such while my Mom's side has history of high caliber pianists. I Began piano very young then switched to guitar at 10. I Studied guitar under Patric Ki in Sedona for 6 years. He is my number 1 musical influence teaching me multiple guitar styles and techniques from Classical, Flamenco and Jazz to metal. Studied under various other artists while taking theory and composition and played in instrumental speed/fusion metal band Mentality (Seattle) until 18 when I was accepted and graduated GIT with honors at the Musicians Institute Hollywood, CA in 1994. Studied and jammed with many, many pros such as Joe Dorio, Scott Henderson, David Oaks, and TJ Helmrich to name a few, and took over 100 classes. Continued to pursue death metal scene in a Florida based death metal/jazz fusion band tied into Chuck Shulinder, Bobby Colby, and Batryjan Boulikov. I met Gunz (Batryjan) at GIT and we ended up jammin for 5 years in Seattle and Florida. Shit happened and I needed to move back to AZ. Ended up hooking up with old friends of mine from Sedona in death metal band Excessive Bleeding and thus The Awakening formed in 99. We played the Phoenix area for 4 years then had line up change and created OSM. OSM evolved into (sic)monic. Music has saved my life. My most sincere gratitude to everyone who has supported me through tragedies, outlandish circumstances and obsessive excessive practice : my Mom, Dad, Jason, Nana, Grandpa, Aunt Sue, Uncle Bob , and of course my band of brothers Ryan, Jay, Taylor, and Zack.
