Ryan A Gero biography:

Born and raised in Az. My love for music started in 4th grade with the upright bass, and
from there i played a multitude of instruments including the saxophone, trumpet, baritone,
my favorite brass instruments the tuba/sousaphone, and even the violin.(I stopped playing all of those in the middle of 8th grade when i got my first electric guitar) My biggest influences back then were bands like System of a Down, Machine Head, Godsmack, Korn, Tenacious D, PANTERA!!!!! Metallica (Before they started sucking), Dio, Yngwee Malmsteen, my dad was in a band once and that was inspiring, and a few more bands like dream theater and Joe Satriani. Then after getting kicked out of this high school I was going to (back when being a hooligan was "cool") So I returned to the middle school I went to as it doubled as a high school. I was still playing my guitar a whole lot cause it had fascinated me. So this was about the time I tried getting a band together. All I really learned at that point was a bunch of lamb of god songs that we played a million times through (though repetitive a ton of fun).So I kept on playing at school and at home. My dad showed me a couple of things here and there when I would ask about how to make the guitar make a certain sound. So after this I started getting into a more heavy style I had gone to ozzfest and had seen As I Lay Dying not a huge fan now but back then I was 13 and it was HEAVY I thought. Then I heard the roadrunner United CD with Glen Benton on it and I listened to that song (Track 3) for about a month straight before I learned most of it minus the guitar solo cause I had no idea what to do :D:D:D So then I started listening to a little bit of local metal (My dad trained people at pima medical institute and met a dude named Eddie who happened to be the singer of BLESSEDBETHYNAME) So I went to see them cause I really liked the uniqueness of their sound and there is where I saw (SIC)Monic for the first time. IT WAS CRAZY. I had never moshed before but when they went on I HAD to. So after the show Ray gave me a pick and i used that pick A LOT but eventually i started using different ones (Jim Dunlop Jazz Stubby 3's). So looking back at it Ive only been playing guitar for like 5 almost 6 years :D But I continued learning. I made a band with my friends (which I named after a Dethklok song) called The Lost Vikings. We played one show outside of school which was at a little bar called peppers. It was an open mic night and we went for it. We played 3 songs all covers but we played Smoke on the Water-Deep Purple(AND YES IT WAS THE FULL SONG!!!!!) then we played Duncan Hills Coffee-Dethklok and we finished by covering BLESSEDBETHYNAME'S Riddles (we did no justice to it but it was fun) So I Started going to more local shows where I met a group of dudes in a band called Sativa Strain (coincidentally it was at a (SIC)Monic show) and I really liked their music learning a couple of their songs. So after that I just took on learning more metal stuff. In this time of learning all the Dethklok songs I could I also learnes to mimic the voices ask me sometime and I'll do them for you :D:D:D But anyways I started learning how to scream which now I do while playing the guitar. And amidst of all of this madness The Lost Vikings lost the drummer to duche bag syndrome and he left without even a goodbye. SOOOOOOO we got a drum machine with it I produced my first recording of myself I still have it on CD :D:D:D and after a long period of time I wanted more so I looked on craigslist for bands to play in. I found one but the other guitarist was FLAKYYY but the singer Dan was cool. So after that fell apart I met my buddy/ bandmate Nathan the Ravenous of Adavant (and the band I'm in with him Auracaust) After 2 weeks of officially being in Auracaust I had learned 5 original songs and a cover song and i played my first real local show (Mosh Pit Army's Metal Head Fest 3 November 28th 2009) and a couple months later I opened for Nile. So over the next few months we recorded a demo of 4 songs plus a bonus track. Then a few months after that we got 2 more songs recorded thanks a ton to our friend D.R.D.M from Malifactor. So after a few months pass the original bass player of The Lost Vikings (Kirk) sent me a message on myspace saying that I should try out for (SIC)Monic I was hanging out with my friends JJ and Danielle when I heard they were looking so naturally I sent them a message telling them I Was interested. And now with hard work and dedication I think I can maybe keep up with these guys :D:D:D:D So now I listen to most types of metal as long as it sounds good.
